The story
Teenagers from Elmgreen School in south London swapped lives with students in Mena, Arkansas, a small town in America's Bible Belt. As Shooting PD I filmed the whole US side, following the London teens through their three weeks in Mena.
The challenge
Mena is a world away from Tulse Hill, and the town's history raised real questions for the London students. The job was earning trust on both sides, so those conversations could happen honestly on camera. I left with friendships that have outlasted the shoot.
