The story
A six-part series following the Compton Magic AAU basketball program through a full season, with one of that year's NBA draft picks. As Shooting Producer I shot around 95% of the series across the US, from Compton to Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, the Carolinas and New York. I filmed all the master interviews, directed the day-to-day actuality and shaped the storylines alongside the showrunner.
The challenge
Weeks on the road, often working alone, with a new state every few days. The reward was getting close to these young players and their families, and capturing what a season like this means to them.
