The story
BBC Three's search for the UK's next rap star. Up-and-coming MCs move into a house and battle through writing, performing and studio challenges in front of the mentors, with a record deal at stake. I was Director Producer across five series, from series 2 in 2020 to the final series in 2024.
The challenge
These are young artists at the very start of their careers. The job was earning their trust, capturing the pressure of every challenge honestly, and giving their talent room to land on screen.
The second run built on a breakout first series, streaming on BBC Three before a late-night slot on BBC One. Graft took the title.
A new house of MCs battled through writing, performing and studio challenges in front of the mentors. Saidu was crowned the winner.
The first series on the relaunched BBC Three channel. Big Jest won the record deal.
Seven more MCs moved in to compete for a first signing. LR Loose came out on top.
